The Humanists and Freethinkers of Cape Fear (HFCF) will host children’s book author J. R. Becker for two book events on Saturday, November 18.
Becker will present a children’s program, with a storytime and book-signing of the beautifully illustrated children’s books, The Story of Life and Oh, The Things We Believed. The event will be held at Pomegranate Books, 4418 Park Avenue, Wilmington, NC, on Saturday, November 18, at 3pm. This engaging author will read from his books and present a talk about the series’ characters and themes – geared to an audience of young readers. Parents will enjoy the program, as well.
That evening, Becker will present a program on writing for children, parenting inquisitive children, and fostering scientific awareness in the next generation. The evening program will be preceded by a wine and cheese reception for the author. The reception starts at 6:30pm and the program starts at 7:15pm. The evening program will be held at the Art Factory, 721 Surry Street, Wilmington, NC.
Joseph holds a BA in Philosophy and a Juris Doctorate from Emory University School of Law. He enjoys science and philosophy books and podcasts, ponders the bigger questions, and dreams up ideas for future children’s stories. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and two children, Annabelle and Aiden.
Illustrated by Max Rambaldi, the books have received praise from Lawrence Krauss, other prominent Humanists, and atheist thought-leaders. The books have garnered a devoted following of appreciative, non-religious parents.
Annabelle and Aiden books will be available for purchase at Pomegranate Books, with a book-signing to follow. Becker’s books will also be available for purchase at the evening program. Both events are free and open to the public. No RSVP required.
