Humanists and Freethinkers of Cape Fear
Humanists, Freethinkers, Atheists, Agnostics, Rationalists, Skeptics, and those who question organized religion
How often do you meet someone whose job is described as “the study of Atheism, Humanism, and Secular Ethics?” The Humanists and Freethinkers of Cape Fear are proud to host renowned educator and philosopher Anjan Chakravartty, the Appignani Foundation Chair for the Study of Atheism, Humanism, and Secular Ethics at the University of Miami.
The community effort at the garden is led by members of the Humanists and Freethinkers of Cape Fear in tending the garden at Castle and 4th Streets in Wilmington NC. In addition to organized work dates, everyone is welcome to pitch in and garden at their own pace, on their own schedule. Check in with the garden project manager to find out what needs to be accomplished.

I have read in the media, including our local paper, lots of talk about prayer.
Prayer, in my view, is magical thinking.
The last row of tomatoes (and the volunteer watermelon growing amidst) and the cayenne and bell peppers have all been pulled up and added to the right side of the compost pile. These rows will be planted once they have been prepped.

When the Brunswick County Commission voted to put “In God We Trust” on police vehicles they voted for religious bigotry over religious liberty. This seemingly innocuous phrase to some is in violation of the separation of church and state and is a form of religious coercion to nonbelievers. It may be legal, but it is not moral. When the Commission said it is to show “integrity” and being “morally correct” they imply nonbelievers are not moral when all the scientific evidence shows just the opposite. In fact, only 0.0261 % of people in prison are atheists.

The High School Science Grant is awarded on when funds allow, and is intended to facilitate, in whole or in part, programs, activities, supplies, equipment, books and other essentials that enhance science-related education at high schools in the New Hanover, Pender, and Brunswick County School systems of North Carolina. This grant is funded with proceeds from fundraising efforts HFCF.
